Hurrah - our first Give and Take at Kirkby Stephen - a bit like a free jumble sale.
We're at the Masonic Hall on the roundabout junction between North Street and Silver Street between 11am and 2pm.
Please bring things to give away and take anything you want.
We hope to demonstrate some upcycling to make some home made Christmas decorations or presents.
Anything left over will be Freegled or given to a charity shop to sell.
Any volunteers to help on the day will be very welcome.
Raffle tickets will be available for a patchwork quilt and a lacey christening shawl in aid of Eden Hospice at Home.
Elaine says:
I'm hoping to make airy baubles, Scandinavian style paper decorations and many more ideas!! I will have a tree totally decorated with hand made baubles, and chains of pompoms, hearts, mini-bunting, etc..
Decorations I made as a child came out year after year until they literally fell apart, to be replaced by newer home made ones! A tree with decorations that were hand made, with love, is more appropriate to the spirit of Christmas than one with expensive shop bought ones, and the baubles made by you, or your children, will be unique! Home made decorations are just as good as shop bought ones, but they mean much, much more. Often you will see decorations on sale at a premium price, because they are marked as hand made. That is just paying for someone else to make them when you could make your own!
